Administrator

By default, the administrator is the role that has the most permissions.

It has the following capabilities:

  • Create, edit, delete, and publish content (pages, articles, and other types of publications).
  • Add, enable, disable, or remove plugins
  • Add, enable, disable, or remove themes
  • Add, edit, or delete users
  • Change settings for the site, active theme, or plugins
  • Manage comments
  • Add, edit, or delete media
  • and more!

Since the administrator has high-impact capabilities, it is recommended to limit the number of administrator accounts. If a user only needs to edit content, it is suggested to assign them the role of an editor.

On a site network (multi-site), the administrator role allows for the administration of a single site (or subsite). The role of Super Admin manages the entire network of sites. The administrator has full rights only to the sites assigned to them.
