Static homepage

By default, WordPress displays your latest blog posts on your site’s homepage. However, WordPress also gives you the option to create a “static homepage.” Instead of displaying your latest blog posts, a static landing page displays fixed content that you can customize to meet your site’s needs.

Here’s how a static homepage works:

To create a static landing page, you must first create a new page in WordPress. You can name this page whatever you want, such as “Home,” and add the content you want to display on your homepage. This content can include text, images, videos, forms, and other elements that you can add using the block editor or a page builder.

Once you have created your page, you can go to Settings > Reading in the WordPress dashboard and select “A static page” for the “Your homepage displays” option. Next, select the page you created from the “Home Page” drop-down menu.

Note that when you set up a static homepage, WordPress will also prompt you to choose a “posts page”. This page will be used by WordPress to display your latest blog posts. You have the option to create a new page for this purpose, such as naming it “Blog”, or select an existing page.

A static homepage can be highly beneficial for websites that are not primarily focused on blogs. For instance, if you have a business site, you can utilize a static homepage to showcase information about your business, products, or services. Additionally, a static homepage can be used to create an appealing landing page that entices visitors to delve deeper into your site.

A static homepage is a powerful way to customize the appearance of your WordPress site and emphasize the most significant content for your visitors.
