These roles define the actions that a user is permitted to perform on the website.<\/p>\n<p>By default, WordPress offers six types of roles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Super Admin (multisite only)<\/li>\n<li>Administrator<\/li>\n<li>Editor<\/li>\n<li>Author<\/li>\n<li>Contributor<\/li>\n<li>Subscriber<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each role is associated with specific capabilities, which are individual actions that a user can undertake, such as creating a page, editing a page, installing a theme, or removing a plugin.<\/p>\n<p>It is possible to add custom roles and modify the capabilities assigned to each role using custom code or plugins.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, a user can have multiple roles simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors who browse the site without logging in (without a username and password) are generally referred to as <em>visitors<\/em>.
